French Colonial Plantation

This 600 acre, 18th century French Colonial plantation property is a part of the Anse Chastanet and Jade Mountain resort properties. The slaves that lived here worked to produce molasses and then the plantation converted to produce cocoa. There are buildings left behind that attest to the history of the place and the lives of the plantation owners and slaves that worked for them.

In the building on the left the horses or mules lived below and the slaves lived above up these stairs.

A short climb leads you to the Plantation house that overlooks the building where the slaves lived, and the buildings where the molasses and cocoa production took place.

"Stairway to Heaven" and also the location of a scene in the reality television show, "The Bachelor".
